Navigating Your Roofing Journey with Hive Roofing

A Step-by-Step Guide to Our Transparent and Hassle-Free Process

Navigating Your Roofing Journey with Hive Roofing

Welcome to Hive Roofing, where we understand that the prospect of roof repair or replacement can seem daunting. That's why we've crafted a clear and straightforward process to ensure your experience is as seamless and stress-free as possible.

From your initial consultation to the final inspection, our guide will walk you through what to expect at each stage of your roofing project. Our goal is not just to meet your expectations but to exceed them, providing peace of mind and confidence in your decision to trust us with your home.

Follow these simple steps to make the insurance claim process as simple and easy as possible. We always recommend having a licensed contractor present to guide you through each of these steps. Lucky for you, we are RCAT-licensed and HAAG-certified!

1. Have a licensed contractor inspect your roof for damage.

Before filing the claim, you should have a licensed contractor check out your property for damage. This ensures TWO things for you. Firstly, you won’t waste your time with the insurance company if there is no damage to report.

Secondly, there may be more damage to your home than just the roof! One of the biggest things we do for you is a full exterior inspection to ensure ALL RECENT WEATHER damage is included in your claim. This means insurance will pay to fix EVERYTHING, assuming the policy you signed agrees to it.

2. If there is damage found, contact your insurance company to file a claim.

If damage is found from a recent weather event, it’s very important that you file a claim with your homeowner's insurance right away. This is because by filing a claim, you have now put the responsibility for your home’s well-being on your insurance company. Up until this point, you, as the homeowner, are 100% responsible for any further damages that happen to your home caused by the storm damage.

As soon as you file the claim and inform your insurance company that damage was found, the insurance company is now 100% responsible for any further damages that happen caused by the recent storm. If you are nervous or unsure what to say when calling your insurance company to file the claim, we are happy to be on the call with you or help in other ways.

Once the claim is filed, the operator will give you a claim number. It is very important that you give this information to your licensed contractor so they can follow up with the claims department on your behalf. They may also give you the name and contact information of your assigned adjuster. This is also very important information to give to your licensed contractor.

3. Schedule an inspection with your insurance claim adjuster.

Once the claim is filed, an inspector representing the insurance company will come to document the damage. It is very important that you have a certified and licensed contractor to advocate for you during this inspection. Remember, this inspector is coming to document for the insurance company. It is in your best interest to have us there to advocate for you and ensure as much of the storm damage is included in your claim as possible!

The best way to schedule this inspection is to start a three-way text chat or a phone call with your Hive representative and your adjuster. This ensures that all three of us are on the same page. You are not necessarily required to be present during this inspection, but you are more than welcome to join. The important part is that we are there to advocate for you!

4. Review the estimate provided by the insurance company.

Once the inspector completes gathering evidence of damage for the insurance company, you will receive an itemized estimate from your insurance company based on their assessment within 2-3 weeks. Understand that the prices for the repairs listed come from a 3rd party government software. The prices on the estimate are set by the state government. The only amount that is owed from you is your deductible. The insurance company will cover the amount on the estimate.

5. Hire a licensed contractor to do the repairs mentioned in the estimate.

Now, it is time for you to hire a contractor to do the work on your house. We hope that by this point, you have chosen us to be your contractor. Before we sign an agreement that we will be your contractor, we will review the estimate that was sent by your insurance company with you and go over the repairs.

Depending on your policy, certain things may or may not be covered. If something that you feel should be covered is not included in your estimate, we will have our supplements team negotiate with the insurance adjuster on your behalf. Our team has a near-perfect success rate of getting claims approved and extra damages included with claims.

We will also select materials and colors with you at this moment. The materials and colors used will be what you prefer. If you are not sure, we will provide you with our recommendations.

6. Pay your deductible.

Part of the signing agreement process and solidifying us as your contractor will be the first and only payment made by you, your deductible. It is required by law in the state of Texas that homeowners pay their full deductible. If you are unable to pay your full deductible, we do offer 0% interest payment plans and will make sure it’s affordable for you.

7. Schedule the repairs with your licensed contractor.

Now, you can let us take care of it from here! We will get our crews scheduled and knock out the work to get your home back in top shape!

8. Receive your first payment from the insurance company and use that to pay your licensed contractor.

You will receive a check from your insurance claims department. It will be made out to you and your mortgage provider. Sign the check on the back to endorse it, and then have your mortgage provider endorse it as well.

A shipment of roofing materials will arrive at your house the day before we work on your roof replacement. Our project manager will arrive to check the materials (and possibly your attic space) to ensure there are no obstructions to the roofing installation. They will also collect the first payment. Please hand them the endorsed check once they have finished their material check.

9. Have your licensed contractor complete the repairs.

This is the big roof replacement day! Our crew will start around 7 am and should finish around 7 pm. If you have pets, please keep them in for the day, as our crew will need access to all the sides of your house.Any additional repairs, including other trades, will be completed on separate days after the roof is completed.

10. Check your home repairs and notify your licensed contractor if something seems off.

Take a look at your beautiful home and let us know how we did!

11. Receive your second payment from the insurance company and use that to pay your licensed contractor.

Once all the repairs are completed, our team will have to exchange some paperwork with the insurance company (“the supplement process”). After this, you will receive the final payment check from the claims department. Follow the same instructions as step 8: endorse the check, have your mortgage provider endorse the check, and someone from our team will come by to pick it up!

12. Relax and continue living life knowing that your home is back to being in good condition!

Everything is finished! Please tell your friends and family about us. Contact us for anything involving repairing or maintaining your home. Remember, we are general contractors as well as roofers, so we want to tackle any project you throw at us! If you decide to remodel, expand, or simply want routine maintenance done, we are here for you!
