This certification is based on inspection techniques on assessing damage to steep slope roofs. Firstly the inspectors are taught about each type of roofing material. Then they are taught about the manufacturing and installation of these product. Thirdly they learn about weathering, hail, wind, and mechanical damage, and repair techniques. Additionally, they are taught basic weather and physics principles, roof inspection safety, and repair versus replacement cost analysis.
After that HAAG certification requires a minimum field experience of 100 residential roof inspections. Then HAAG does perform random experience verification audits.
