How do I know if insurance will pay enough to get the work done? Why don’t you provide bids or estimates?

Homeowners only pay their deductible, with costs for roofing work in Texas determined by insurance estimates using Xactimate, as mandated by the Texas Deductible Law, ensuring no out-of-pocket expenses beyond the deductible.

The total cost of the job will be made in 3 payments: the deductible at signing, first insurance check when materials arrive, second/final insurance check(s) after all work has been verified by the insurance company as complete. As such, the homeowner never has to pay for, or even be out of pocket for, any more than their deductible.

Any legitimate and licensed roofer in Texas will do the work for precisely what the estimate from the insurance company states (because the values came from Xactimate).

Insurance companies operating in Texas must utilize a third-party pricing entity (such as Xactimate) for creating fair market value estimates, since the passing of the Texas Deductible Law in 2019.

Many Texans are still unfamiliar with this “New Way” of contracting for insurance claims and still expect to do things the “Old Way”.  Legitimate roofers/contractors are NOT asking for the insurance estimate and refusing to provide bids in order to further a negotiation, but because the law dictates precisely what we are able to charge for an insurance job.

For any contractor to provide a bid or estimate for a job that is related to an insurance claim creates an untenable situation, which is why no legitimate and licensed roofer will do so.

SITUATION 1: If the roofing contractor’s bid is ABOVE the insurance estimate (calculated with Xactimate software) the contractor would be price gauging, which is not our practice.

SITUATION 2:  If the roofing contractor’s bid is BELOW the insurance estimate (calculated with Xactimate software) the contractor would be effectively providing a “rebate of deductible”, which is facilitating insurance fraud and comes with fines and jail time for both the contractor and homeowner.
